Disappointing start for Aditi Ashok at the Meijar LPGA Classic | Golf News

MICHIGAN (USA): Indian golfer Aditi Ashok had a disappointing start to her Meijer LPGA Classic campaign as she shot 3 of 75 to sit T-127th.
Aditi, who has finished twice in 30 years at the event in her four starts, started from the back nine but ran into a tough 14th-17th streak as she bogged three of the four holes .
She had her only birdie of the day in the first, but another bogey in the third meant a poor finish. She will now aim for a good second round to try her luck in the weekend rounds.
It’s been a modest season so far for Aditi, whose two LPGA Top 15 finishes have come in the first two events of this 2022 season.
However, it was American Jennifer Kupcho who sat in first place as she ignited Blythefield Country Club with a memorable show.
With a bogey-free bogey, Kupcho of 9-under 63 came out in 30 on the front nine and had a 33 on the back nine.
It is the 25-year-old’s third appearance in the tournament – her best finish in the event was a tie for 10th place in 2021 – and the fourth time she has held the lead in all 18 holes of her career.
Another American Gerina Piller sits second after shooting an 8-under 64, highlighted by 7 birdies and an eagle.
Interestingly, a trio of players sit tied for third at seven under, including the big champions Anna Nordqvist and Lexi Thompson and winner of the LPGA Tour Madeleine Sagstrom.
