EMU’s Eagle Crest Golf Club Ranked Top 10 Public Golf Courses by Detroit Free Press

Eagle Crest Golf Club climbs the ladder to #5 on the Detroit Free Press Top 10 Pubic Golf Courses in Metro Detroit for 2022.

Eagle Crest Golf Club is owned and operated by Eastern Michigan University and is the home course for the EMU women’s and men’s teams. It features an 18-hole layout with distinctive holes, beautiful views of Ford Lake and a beautiful setting for golf enthusiasts. EMU has been working on its master plan to upgrade its golf course and make it one of the finest courses in Metro Detroit.

“As the only golf course in Southeast Michigan, Eagle Crest offers Face GPS units on all golf carts, a golf shop, a banquet hall overlooking the golf course, The Eagle Crest Bar and Grille, Marriott Hotel and Conference Center, among other amenities,” Wes Belvins, PGA golf manager at Eagle Crest, said in a written statement. “It features an 18-hole layout with signature holeshots, stunning lake views Ford and an expansive practice facility consisting of a three-tier driving range, short game area with pitching/chipping green and two practice greens.

Over the years, the golf course has undergone many renovations to provide its customers with the best experience. The 20-year master plan includes new tee complexes, lengthening the golf course, adding drainage, stripping and bailing out greens, renovating bunkers, removing dead or diseased trees and golf course playability. The course has undergone several improvements since 2011, and since then it has laid the foundation.
