The Swede picked up a two-stroke victory at Trump National Golf Club Bedminster to prevail on his LIV debut, less than a fortnight after being dismissed as European Ryder Cup captain.

The 46-year-old became the first European to win on the new tour, after London winner Charl Schwartzel and Portland champion Branden Grace in the winner’s circle.

To put it into context, Stenson had won $184,439 on the PGA Tour this season after making just four cuts.

“I think there was maybe a bit more motivation this week. When we as players have that, I think we can bring out the good stuff.

Speaking of good things, Dustin Johnson and his 4Aces GC continued their strong start to LIV life.
