JK Pro Golfers to Represent India: Sarmad Hafeez

Srinagar, September 14: The Professional Golf Tour of India (PGTI), an official sanctioning body for professional golf in India, together with Jammu and Kashmir Tourism, on Tuesday announced J&K Open 2021 (Professional Golf Tournament) presented by J&K Tourism which will be held at the Royal Spring Golf Course (RSGC) here at SKICC.

The tournament will start on September 15 and end on September 18, and will feature a prize purse of Rs. 40,000,000.

The Pro-Am event will take place on September 19 where local golfers will have the opportunity to play with these professional golfers/champions.

125 golfers including 118 professionals and 7 amateurs will take part in this tournament.

The tournament is part of J&K Tourism’s great initiative to promote golf tourism in the region. J&K is blessed with spectacular golf courses such as Royal Springs Golf Course (Srinagar), Pahalgam Golf Course (Lidder Valley), Gulmarg Golf Club and Jammu Tawi Golf Course.

Speaking at the press conference, Jammu and Kashmir Tourism and Culture Secretary Sarmad Hafeez said they were proud to support the J&K Open 2021 presented by J&K Tourism as golf tourism makes part of our larger goal of promoting tourism at J&K.

“The return of professional men’s golf to the Kashmir Valley gives us a great opportunity to showcase J&K as an attractive golf destination. We look forward to a mutually beneficial partnership with PGTI,” he said.

“We have all the golf courses here, we have a whole golf circuit, we really have international golf facilities, and in the future we will also have international golf tournaments,” he said.

“We are here to carry the message to the world and to the rest of the country that we are launching in the golf capital of the country,” he said.

While welcoming professional golfers, Sarmad said he hopes that in the future JK golfers will represent the country.

India’s top scrum professionals include Olympian Udayan Mane, Indian star Jyoti Randhawa, PGTI Order of Merit leader Karandeep Kochhar.

International winners such as Rashid Khan, Khalin Joshi, Viraj Madappa and Chikkarangappa S (former winner at Royal Springs Golf Course) and other top Indian players such as Aman Raj, Kshitij Naveed Kaul and Manu Gandas, to name a few. name a few.

The foreign challenge will be led by the Bangladeshi duo of Md Zamal Hossain Mollah and Badal Hossain.
