LIV Golf players at the US Open: How Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and other PGA Tour defectors played the major

LIV, laugh, love?

Matt Fitzpatrick took the US Open victory on Sunday, but there was another major story brewing throughout the week leading up to his win.

MORE: Why PGA Tour players are defecting to a new golf tour

LIV Golf Series players were eligible to play at the Major Golf Tournament in Brookline, Massachusetts, which meant Phil Mickelson, Dustin Johnson and others were on the Country Club course.

The LIV golfers didn’t fare too well though. Although PGA Tour defectors aren’t far from playing on the PGA Tour and related events, for some it felt like it was their first time on a course. Maybe it was nervous, maybe it was the pressure, or maybe it was just a tough course to play.

The Country Club is still a notoriously difficult course, so it’s not like the LIV golfers are outmatched.

That said, this could be the last week the LIV Tour members will play the US Open – that is, if USGA boss Mike Whan reconsiders some qualifying aspects of the 2023 edition.

If this is the end for LIV golfers, then they came out with a flutter, not a flourish. Here’s how they played:
