Masters 2022: Jordan Spieth suffers another disaster on the 12th hole | Golf News and Tour Information

AUGUSTA, Ga. — During his press conference Tuesday, Jordan Spieth knew the question he was going to be asked before it slipped completely out of the speaker’s mouth.

“Sorry to take you back in time,” said a reporter.

“That could be a good thing or a bad thing,” Spieth quipped. “But apparently you’re going the wrong way.”

To Spieth’s credit, he handled the investigation well as he has done countless times since the quadruple bogey that practically gave Danny Willett the green jacket. He admitted the hole had weighed on him for a few years, but he ended his long answer on a positive note.

“So I feel pretty good,” said the three-time major champion. “That doesn’t even come to mind anymore.”

Well, that got a little tougher on Friday after Spieth suffered another disaster on the famous par 3. Spieth was an under for the day and in good shape at an over for the tournament when he hit the tee . But as in 2016, again his tee shot found Rae’s Creek.

And again, so did his second hit after taking a drop.

Yeah. If there’s a silver lining, it’s that this time Spieth was able to go up and down to save a triple bogey. But obviously that’s not the kind of score that helps you win a major or even make the cut of a major. And not the kind of result you want to add to the memory bank.

Sorry, Jordan. Those questions about the 12th hole aren’t going away any time soon.
