Matt Fitzpatrick throws shade at LIV Golf players

Last week, some LIV Golf players Talor Gooch, Matt Jones and Hudson Swafford attempted to file a temporary restraining order against the PGA Tour that would have allowed them to make the playoffs. However, Judge Beth Labson Freeman ruled against them, saying, “I find that the plaintiffs have not established irreparable harm.”

Don’t expect PGA Tour golfer Matt Fitzpatrick to have too much sympathy for them when he plays the 2022 BMW Championship this week.

“Yeah, it’s still an incredibly fantastic field. The field this week is made up of 70 of the best players in the world,” Fitzpatrick said this week. “Yeah, I think only three of them aren’t there, that’s not a massive loss in my opinion.”

Fitzpatrick also added that he was doing his best not to engage in the PGA Tour-LIV Golf drama.

“You’re sick of talking about it,” he said. “My personal opinion is like, okay, let’s go now. I just want to play golf and focus on what you’re doing.

Of course, that’s easier said than done and many of the PGA Tour’s top talents sat down with Tiger Woods this week to discuss their next steps. We’ll see if the 2022 US Open champion has any thoughts on the state of the game after this weekend’s game.
