Penticton Golf Courses Draw Great Interest as Season Begins – Penticton News

Tee times fill up fast

Golfers are ready to hit the greens and start swinging clubs again as Penticton courses kick off their spring season.

The Penticton Golf & Country Club opened on Friday, and many members have already rushed to fill in their tee times.

“Well, the course is beautiful and of course everyone is very excited to be able to get out there and start playing golf again,” said general manager Guy Dow.

The first week of March is when the course usually opens, with temperatures mild enough for people to get out and enjoy. The slots are filled with golfers from Salmon Arm, as well as Kelowna and Vernon.

The country club is open to the general public as well as members, inviting everyone to join throughout the season.

Dow advises those returning to the course to make sure they warm up properly.

“If you have the option of using one of the local practice areas, use it before you go out and start swinging,” he said.

The course celebrates its 100th anniversary this year and is planning special festive events for the season.

“We have a lot of events, and a lot of charity events coming back, which is huge. So many local charities have missed a fundraiser in the last two years, so that’s a huge plus for them. .

Skaha Meadows Golf Course opened in mid-February and also saw many visitors eager to play the course again.

Other courses in the city, such as Wow Golf Club and Pine Hills Golf Club, have yet to announce their opening dates.
