The 4th Wapda Amateur Golf President starts today

LAHORE – The 4th Wapda Amateur Golf Championship will kick off today (Thursday) here at the Lahore Gymkhana Par 72 Golf Course.

Classified events include a competition for veteran golfers who fall into the 70+ age category and include prominent members who continue their association with the sport with zeal and intensity, another competition for senior amateurs in the age bracket over 55 but less than 70 years old and women will also participate in an exclusive segment for female golfers.

And the predominant golfers in this reputed event will be the amateur golfers who are nationally recognized players, very skilled in golf playing abilities and although many of them are proficient and skillful with many wins to their active, there are others who seek recognition through the application of their newly acquired talent and golfing skill.

This was stated by Col (r) Asif Mehdi, Wapda Sports Advisor during a press conference at Lahore Gymkhana Golf Club which was also attended by Muhammad Musharaf Khan, Wapda Sports General Manager, Shafqat Rana Sports Advisor Wapda, M Razzq Gill, Secretary General Wapda Sports, Sarmad Nadeem, organizer Golf Lahore Gymkhana and Khawaja Pervaiz Saeed.

Colonel Asf Mehdi said the Chairman Wapda Golf Championship was introduced in the national golf calendar four years ago and with the support of Wapda it is identified as a national level championship that attracts golf enthusiasts. proficient, skillful and masterful golfers from all over the country. “Wapda is engaged in 10 huge water-related dams and 24 relatively smaller projects.”

He added that the prizes at stake are attractive and that in addition to the trophies, the winners will receive useful gifts related to golf equipment. In numerical terms, the hopes in competition amount to a total of 300 with a breakdown as follows: The defending champion is Umer Khokher. The names of the most important participants are Qasim Ali Khan and Salman Jehangir.

He added that regarding Wapda’s contribution to sport, it has teams for 37 sport disciplines including archery, badminton, athletics, badminton, bodybuilding, boxing, cricket, football, hockey, golf, tennis and many more. And their athletes have won sporting honors on national and international stages.
