The North of England houses the legendary Open Championship sites and many of the country’s most beloved golf resorts, while the unforgettable contribution of Dr Alister MacKenzie is featured by many outstanding designs in Yorkshire.

Celebrating this part of the world, we studied the reviews submitted in the Golf course section since 2019, by isolating those seized during the months of June, July and August, by presenting Highly recommended destinations (which had at least six recent rankings) for the summer.

Review Comment: “We played Dunstanburgh on the way back from the Open Championship and were both very impressed. The greens rolled well, the course was tricky in places and the views are stunning. The par 3 13th was my favorite, a 130-yard hole on a steep slope that played against the wind that day and made clubbing difficult.”

It is really necessary to stay on the fairways here as the rough is quite severe. Every hole is a test but my favorite is the long par 3 10th. Very hilly but well worth a visit. Highly recommended.”
