Time is running out to weigh in on Rochester golf courses

Rochester, Minnesota (News KROC-AM)- A survey seeking community input on the future of Rochester’s municipal golf course ends Wednesday.

Rochester city leaders hired a polling company to conduct a telephone survey of 500 residents as well as an online questionnaire open to all Rochester residents. The survey results are expected to be shared at a meeting of the Rochester Park Board of Trustees on Nov. 1 and at a Rochester City Council study session on Nov. 28.

Earlier this year, the city council directed the Parks Department to review golf operations and create a strategy to secure more than $700,000 a year in funding for capital improvement projects, operating support and other necessary expenses to “better preserve the value of new investments in an improved system”. Council also directed the Parks Service to investigate ways to optimize the golf program by repositioning one or more courses and identifying future so-called high-level uses for the properties.

Wow! See how Rochester has changed over the years in these Google Photos.

As we drive down Highway 52, it’s hard to imagine what life was like in our town before the Target store was built where it stands today. Or the house you live in now, at some point in town, that wasn’t there. In fact, Rochester has grown so fast over the years that most of our homes didn’t even exist 50 years ago!
